The house, built according to Vedic principles, combines the natural medicine of Ayurveda with the tranquillity of Transcendental Meditation.

Ayurveda pioneer Dr Wolfgang Schachinger has just opened his "Soma Med" clinic in Geboltskirchen, Upper Austria. According to the statement, it is the world's first health facility that combines classical Ayurvedic medicine, thermal water treatments and modern medicine and unites them under one roof. Schachinger came into contact with Ayurveda through Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation (TM).

Among the guests of honour at the celebration in the building, which was constructed according to the principles of Vedic architecture, were the Indian Ambassador to Vienna, Jaideep Mazumdar, and many other guests from all over the world. Among them were Dr. Eckart Stein, who heads the German Society for Transcendental Meditation, and Lothar Pirc from the Ayurveda Clinic in Bad Ems. The house, which took 18 months to build, blends ideally into the natural landscape of the Hausruckwald. Clinic director Dr Wolfgang Schachinger and his daughter Dr Valeria Schachinger employed 35 staff. They cater to people who want to improve their health and performance with natural methods. The clinic also includes a restaurant with Ayurvedic dishes and a shop with natural products for good health. Markus Achleitner, Regional Councillor for Economy and Tourism, was also enthusiastic about the opening of the Soma Health Centre: "Health, regeneration, vitality, joie de vivre - this is exactly the medicine we need in times like these."

Around 1500 guests at the open day
After the opening ceremony, a short time later, a highly frequented open day took place: with around 1500 visitors. The parking spaces regulated by the fire brigade were occupied for hundreds of metres, and the Ayurvedic-vegetarian lunch was sold out at 12.15 pm. Free short consultations with pulse diagnosis attracted particular interest. Dr. Schachinger, the new Ayurvedic dietician Gudrun Sowa and the Indian Ayurvedic physician Dr. Abilash Anand were able to give valuable Ayurvedic dietary and lifestyle tips during more than 130 consultations. Orthopaedic surgeon and sports physician Dr. Philipp Schultes gave useful advice for the musculoskeletal system at over 20 short consultations on behalf of Soma. Gentle Ayurvedic face and neck massages with soothing Ayurvedic oils were very popular with the guests.

In the new seminar room and in the "Room of Silence", many visitors informed themselves about the cures offered in the house and about Transcendental Meditation. During Dr. Schachinger's keynote lecture on "Detoxification the Ayurvedic way", the audience crowded all three floors to make sure they didn't miss anything.
