Ayurvedic regeneration cure as a summer vacation

Summer is inexorably approaching, and with it the annual recreational vacation. Since Corona-related travel restrictions will make foreign travel difficult or impossible, a vacation at home is on the horizon.

Vacations are for regeneration.

What are the options for profound regeneration? Relaxation, exercise and detoxification of body and mind belong to the 5 pillars of health, to which we dedicate ourselves in our house.

Which method of purification is most effective?

In Maharishi Ayurveda, the classical purification therapy "Panchakarma" is considered the most effective purification therapy, which can be used both preventively and therapeutically. The word "Panchakarma" means "fivefold therapy". It refers to procedures that increase the elimination of harmful metabolic products through our natural excretory pathways. The key here is a careful step-by-step approach that allows for a thorough elimination of toxins.

What should be excreted? .

1 | Environmental toxins We live in a world that presents our bodies with previously unknown tasks. More than 10,000 new substances that chemists have invented and developed in recent decades enter our bodies through polluted air and water. Many of these substances have toxic effects and can block our hormones and metabolism. Those who do not always eat food from organic farming are also adding dangerous substances to their diet

2 | Body's own toxins But there is danger not only from the outside, but also from the inside: if the digestive system does not function perfectly, food that has not been completely digested can enter our body and become a burden, especially for the immune system. In addition, each cell constantly produces waste products from cell regeneration, which can only be disposed of by the body when it is in a relaxed situation without any stress. To give time for this, the recreational vacation is ideal.

Stress prevents regeneration

In our working world today, we experience stresses for which our mind-body system is not prepared. Due to predominantly sedentary activities, time pressure, psychological and social stress, we are in a constant fight-flight reflex. This triggers a tension in our autonomic nervous system that often cannot be released in everyday life. The constant tension leads to disturbances in the biorhythms (sleep, digestion, menstrual cycle), which have a great potential for illness. Whoever feels his job or a private tension situation as a burden, should definitely use the vacation for precautionary health measures such as an Ayurveda cure.

What happens if we do not detoxify sufficiently?

Prof. Dr. Ohsumi, winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine, and his team have discovered that cellular waste and environmental toxins that are not disposed of by the body accelerate the aging process and open the door to chronic diseases. The aforementioned substances prevent our body cells from being able to supply themselves with sufficient energy or make way for younger body cells in good time. Prof. Ohsumi called the elimination of the burdening substances "autophagy" (literally "self-eating"). In this process, cellular waste is recycled, usable substances are used by the body, toxic ones are excreted. In animal studies, healthy lifespan could be doubled by autophagy processes. If the metabolic waste products, environmental toxins and cellular waste are not removed, they become a breeding ground for chronic diseases. They lead to so-called "silent inflammations", which can cause subjective complaints such as fatigue, depressive moods, mood swings and listlessness, and also to autoimmune diseases or cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction and stroke.

Purification regenerates and rejuvenates

Ayurvedic texts thousands of years old already emphasize the importance of regularly eliminating unprocessed substances in order to "grow old healthily." They describe panchakarma therapies as a method for this. They use an elaborate system of interlocking treatment procedures that utilize the natural organs of elimination to eliminate harmful substances.

The stages of purification

Each cleansing treatment consists of three stages: A preparatory phase to release the old toxins from the tissues, an elimination phase to eliminate the toxins, and a post-cure to stabilize the rejuvenating treatment effect. In our practice, it has been found that the success of any cleansing cure depends on the first phase, the preparation. Only slags that are well removed from the tissues can be completely eliminated. The preparation of the cure should last at least 1 week. The preparation is usually completed with a colon cleansing, which can be done at home. This relieves the body to such an extent that the beneficial Ayurvedic treatments of the main cure can take effect accordingly. In our house the main cure is offered ambulatory. Those who live within a radius of less than 30 minutes drive can take the cure from home, those who live further away can find a temporary home in a Ried lodging house. For the main cure you should plan at least 3 days, but if possible 1 - 2 weeks. On these days you will receive unique Ayurvedic treatments: Synchronous massages, royal oil baths, forehead casts, soothing heat treatments, gentle marma therapies and much more. Through these pampering measures, you will not even notice that you are also receiving cleansing therapies via the intestines and head.

Medical support

From the planning of the cure to the post-cure, a competent and sensitive medical accompaniment is very important. There are countless possibilities to combine the different Ayurvedic treatments. Based on pulse diagnosis and condition, each participant receives an individually adapted cure plan. Through careful medical supervision, this cure plan is adapted to the current course of the cure. In addition to the planning meeting for the cure, the final meeting with the attending physician is particularly important. There the course is set for which lifestyle measures and which rasayanas (restorative remedies) should be continued at home in order to take away the longest possible cure effect.

Ayurveda cure on vacation?

There is no deeper regeneration than a Panchakarma cure. That is why this kind of therapy is suitable for summer vacation. Our recommendation is to plan the cure so that it is at the beginning of the vacation. Based on our decades of experience, we recommend starting your vacation with a detoxification. After that, a good part of the vacation should still be used for exercise and an active vacation. Relaxed activity is the best way to stabilize the spa effect. You will come back from your vacation refreshed and strengthened, with full performance and motivation.

Summary

Stress and environmental toxins lead to strains on our mind-body system that cannot be fully regenerated during a normal vacation. The summer vacation in one's own country is a good opportunity to improve health, vitality and performance through an Ayurvedic cleansing cure. The cleansing should precede an active vacation. Optimal is a Panchakarma cure of 3 - 10 days in our house as the beginning of the vacation. Those who cannot do a Panchakarma cure with us due to time or financial reasons should at least plan a few purification days during the last days of work or the first days of vacation. In this way, stress and strains of everyday life are solved, and the vacation becomes an optimal relaxation experience.
