Meditation as a source of vital energy

n the month of November, we will be focussing on the topic of "energy". Where do I get the energy for a fulfilled life? Many people who visit us at soma ask themselves this question. Tiredness, exhaustion and lack of energy are important issues for our patients and customers.

The word "Ayurveda" consists of the two word roots "ayu" and "veda". "Ayu" means "life span" and "life energy", "veda" means "knowledge" and "intelligence", whereby not only intellectual knowledge is meant, but also the intelligence with which the entire universe functions.

The classical Ayurvedic texts state that they were created and handed down to enable people to lead a healthy, active and meaningful life. Increasing and optimising life energy is important to achieve this goal. The preventive and therapeutic recommendations of Maharishi Ayurveda aim to improve life energy and vitality using natural methods. These methods are diverse: from meditation as a way of accessing the inner source of energy to medicinal herbs, cleansing cures and lifestyle measures, the range of effective applications is wide.

Maharishi Ayurveda assumes that every human being, as part of the universe, can connect with an inexhaustible source of energy and intelligence that lies at the base of creation. This happens by focussing our mind inwards, because we can perceive this source of energy in the depths of our consciousness. Transcendental Meditation (TM) serves as a methodical approach to this experience of stillness and vitality. This simple form of deep relaxation is suitable for everyone, regardless of culture and religion, and can be easily integrated into everyday life with a small investment of time (20 minutes twice a day).

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi began to make this traditional form of meditation accessible to the general public in the 1950s. Since then, millions of people have learnt and successfully practised TM. Hundreds of scientific studies have shown that practising TM makes the mind clearer and fresher, the body less susceptible to illness and interpersonal relationships less conflict-laden. If Transcendental Meditation is practised in large groups, it also has a positive effect on people living together: peaceful tendencies increase.

The topic of transcendental meditation is almost inexhaustible. You can find more information on the website www.meditation.at. At soma, many employees practise TM, and our meditation teachers Barbara Diewald and Günter Rickal regularly offer courses to learn TM.

If you are interested in the topic of "life energy", there is no way around meditation. We would be happy to advise you if you are interested in meditation.

Read in the interview with Mrs Anita Gmeiner how learning TM can inspire your everyday life.
