Vedic health teachings – holistic knowledge for body, mind and soul

Vedic medicine is one of the oldest holistic medical systems in the world. It originates from the Indian Vedas, scriptures that are thousands of years old, and is known today primarily under the name Ayurveda.

What is the Vedic science of health?

Vedic health teaching understands health not only as the absence of illness, but also as a harmonious balance of body, mind and soul. It is based on the knowledge of the laws of nature, the five elements(earth, water, fire, air and space) and their effect on people.

Central principles

  • The three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha): They determine our individual constitution and our well-being. If one of these bioenergies is out of balance, complaints or illnesses can arise.
  • Prevention instead of cure: the aim is to prevent illness before it develops.
  • Holistic approach: nutrition, lifestyle, exercise, inner balance and naturopathy are interlinked.

Methods of Vedic health teaching

  • Individual nutrition according to constitutional type and season
  • Pancha Karma cures for cleansing and detoxification
  • Medicinal plants and herbs to support self-healing powers
  • Yoga, meditation and breathing exercises for inner peace and mental clarity
  • Recommendations for everyday life relating to sleep, exercise and stress management

Aim of the Vedic health teachings

The aim is to bring people back into their natural balance – for more vitality, inner strength and joie de vivre.
