Turmeric and sport

Two factors are essential for athletic performance: an efficient cardiovascular system and strong resistant joints. New studies show that turmeric both improves blood flow in the body and has a beneficial effect on keeping joints healthy.

Good blood flow due to expansion of blood vessels is a normal consequence of physical activity. One study compared whether the administration of turmeric or moderate exercise had a stronger effect on blood vessels. To the astonishment of the researchers, both groups studied showed an almost equal improvement in blood flow. The authors of the study concluded that the intake of turmeric and aerobic exercise both promoted the widening of blood vessels and thus resulted in healthy vascular function, which was not the case in the control group without exercise and turmeric intake.

Turmeric and exercise

Fitness advisors and trainers concluded that taking a few capsules of turmeric before exercise can further improve the cardiovascular and muscular effects of exercise. 2-4 capsules of turmeric with pepper at the beginning of training can produce this effect.

Better bioavailability through pepper

Our turmeric with pepper capsules contain all the active ingredients of the turmeric root. So not only curcumin, the yellow pigment of the golden root, but also three hundred other bioactive substances. In studies, often only curcumin is used as a test substance. From the point of view of Ayurveda, however, it is more beneficial to use all the active substances of turmeric, as contained in turmeric powder and in our capsules, because this produces a much broader effect. Studies have also shown that the piperine contained in pepper increases the bioavailability of the turmeric dye by 2000%. This is the reason why our turmeric capsules also contain a small amount of black pepper.

Turmeric and joints

The proven anti-oxidant effect of turmeric also protects the joints, which are heavily stressed during sports. This is also an important factor in sports. The anti-oxidant protection of turmeric keeps joint surfaces smooth and less inflamed after exercise.

Regularly taking 2-4 capsules of turmeric with pepper before exercising is therefore a valuable support for your regular sports training.
