Vitamin D and the risk of covid infections

Opinions seem to become more and more contradictory. The authorities are still only talking about distance rules and vaccination. There seems to be nothing in between. Nevertheless, studies on other effective approaches are increasing. Today we will show you how much vitamin D in sufficient doses can prevent or mitigate the disease.

You can summarise the results in one sentence: People with vitamin D levels above 50 ng/ml have a significantly lower risk of developing covid-19. Those who have a high vitamin D level and still get Covid-19 have much higher chances of suffering only a mild course. Only a few people who have sufficient vitamin D need to be treated in an intensive care unit, and deaths are much less common in this group. Here is the summary of a randomised controlled trial from Spain.

Confession of a hardliner

One of the biggest proponents of conventional medicine, US President Donald Trump's advisor, Dr. A. Fauci, was asked in an interview whether mothers could strengthen their children's immune system. He confirmed that he himself takes vitamin D and C supplements. These reduce susceptibility to infections and help maintain a healthy immune system.

How much vitamin D do I need to take to be protected?

In the study result shown below, which was developed by Prof. Dr. Holick, the world's leading researcher on vitamin D, and his team, it is shown that the fewest covid infections occur at a vitamin D level between 50 and 60 ng/ml. Our general dosage recommendation is: 1000 i. E. per 20kg body weight per day.

LINK to the study The cited study was conducted with a small number of cases, further research is needed to corroborate the study results. For legal reasons, we state that despite the favourable results of this study, there is of course a risk of contracting COVID-19 and suffering complications even with sufficient vitamin D intake. We expressly point out the recommended hygiene measures.

Due to individually varying response rates to vitamin D, you should definitely have your vitamin D level checked before winter!
