Essential oils are highly concentrated raw materials that are never used pure, but only in suitable dilutions on the skin. There are exceptions, such as the essential lavender oil fine (Lavandula angustifolia) for burns. A rough rule of thumb is: 1 to 2 drops of essential oil to 10 ml or 2 teaspoons of fatty oil.

Sesame oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil or St. John's wort oil are excellent for diluting essential oils. In general, any fatty vegetable oil that you use for cooking can also be used.

The dosage table provides information on the exact mixing ratios of fatty oil/essential oil:

Application:

Up to 1 year: 0.1- 0.5 %
1-3 years: 0.5- 1 %
3-6 years: 1 -1 ,5 %
6-10 years: 1.5- 2 %
10 -12 years: 2-2.5 %
Adults:  up to 5 % depending on symptoms
Sick and elderly: should be treated like children.

In general, the following applies to essential oils: "LESS IS MORE". Especially with children, "too much of a good thing" can have the opposite effect. For babies up to half a year -> 1st choice hydrolates!!!! For sensitive respiratory tracts, all mixtures should only be applied to the back and feet!

Alcohol extract
