The 5 Pillars of Health - Relaxing

"Since I have been meditating regularly, everything in life is easier for me. I sleep better, I am more concentrated at work and even my athletic performance is better" says Mr. T.S., who learned Transcendental Meditation (TM) at the Haus der Gesundheit Ried a few months ago. "My allergic complaints have also become less."  Mr. T.S. notes.

5 Saeulen der Gesundheit - Entspannen Relaxation and movement are the pair of opposites that make up the dynamism and fullness of life. Performance, life energy and health improve to the extent that we succeed in integrating relaxation and movement into our lives in a meaningful way. High dynamics in work, leisure and sport are only possible if we experience sufficiently long and effective relaxation phases. Without efficient relaxation and regeneration, performance and joie de vivre are quickly lost.

Forms of relaxation

The most important forms of relaxation are meditation, sleeping and dreaming, conscious breaks in everyday life, observing one day off per week without being available, time for daydreaming and a cosy evening with family and friends, enhanced by a social game.

Transcendental Meditation is particularly effective

From a scientific point of view, Transcendental Meditation is the form of deep relaxation that most effectively brings our mind-body system into a pleasant state of calm. Transcendental Meditation is easy to learn, can be practised independently at home after a 4-day evening course and has the greatest effect with a duration of 15-20 minutes twice a day. The effects of meditation are felt in the very first days after learning: you feel fresher, more alert, more balanced, many a "little ache" disappears as if by itself.

Original method from the yoga tradition

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi In the 1950s, the Indian scholar Maharishi Mahesh Yogi began to make Transcendental Meditation accessible to a wider audience, not only in India but all over the world. His motive was to show the billions of people in the world a simple way to inner peace and to live together without conflict. He saw that every human being has the potential to live a fulfilled life in harmony with creation. Maharishi had a vision of a peaceful world in which all people seize the opportunity for inner fulfilment and material prosperity by developing their full potential through regular meditation, a high level of education and a healthy lifestyle.

Meditation boom in the 1960s and today

Meditationsboom in den 1960er Jahren Transcendental Meditation is an extremely practical method that can be used with advantage in everyday life, regardless of cultural, economic or religious background. When in 1968 the Beatles and other stars left for India to practise Transcendental Meditation intensively at the Academy of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, meditation suddenly became the talk of the town out of nowhere. It was also at this time that the first scientific studies were written showing that Transcendental Meditation leads to a unique, measurably different state of calm alertness and brings great benefits for personality development and health. This boom slowed down in the 1980s. Only in recent years has Transcendental Meditation become the number one secret again among many well-known personalities. Bob Roth's new book "Still werden- Kraft tanken"  (Be still - recharge your batteries) tells of the sometimes unbelievable experiences of many VIPs with TM.

TM recommended by doctors for high blood pressure

Contributing to the current high demand for Transcendental Meditation courses worldwide are over 700 scientific studies that investigate and confirm the health and social value of TM. As a result of these findings, Transcendental Meditation has been included in the recommended list of effective, evidence-based therapies for hypertension developed by the leading cardiologists for each country. Several studies also show that people who practice TM for 15-20 minutes twice a day suffer significantly less from cardiovascular disease than the population average. TM meditators cause their insurance companies to spend 80-90% less on their insured for cardiovascular disease. What an incredible savings potential for our ailing health care system, which is running out of money at every turn! It has also been shown in our practice that patients who learn Transcendental Meditation and practise it regularly tend to become healthier with increasing years of life and can lead an independent, active life without major restrictions into old age.
