Cancer is one of the challenges of our time. More and more people are contracting one of the extremely diverse forms of cancer.

Rising life expectancy, unhealthy lifestyles and increasing environmental pollution are among the main causes of today's "cancer epidemic".

Modern medicine is making huge advances in cancer treatment. Nevertheless, many people are sceptical about these advances. The reason: the considerable side effects of many modern cancer therapies such as radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

Turmeric: prevention and effective adjunctive therapy

Turmeric contains the substance curcumin. This curcumin has been studied for its effects against cancer for years. So far, the ingredients of the turmeric root could not be confirmed as anti-cancer agents in clinical studies.

However, research has shown that turmeric has a clear cancer-preventing effect. In every human being, a few cancer cells are created every day. Curcumin has the ability to limit cancer cells in their growth and ability to multiply. This effect may be sufficient to prevent the development of tumours from the incidental cancer cells when turmeric is used regularly, as curcumin prevents size growth and cell division of individual cancer cells. In clinical trials, the effect of curcumin was not sufficient for existing, large tumours.

This confirms that turmeric can certainly be used as a preventive measure, but not as the sole cancer therapy.

Turmeric is becoming increasingly important as an adjunctive medication to conventional cancer therapy in the form of radiation or chemotherapy. These therapies, which often have side effects, also attack the cell walls of healthy body cells.

Curcumin strengthens the cell membranes by attaching additional lipid molecules and thus makes them more resistant. Cells strengthened in this way are less susceptible to pathogens, mutations and harmful chemical substances. Thus, during chemotherapy or radiation, healthy body cells are protected by turmeric.

The opposite is true for cancer cells, whose cell walls are weakened by curcumin. This makes the cancer cell more permeable and has been shown to be more successfully eliminated by radiation or chemotherapy.

Summary:

Turmeric strengthens the immune system and supports the organism in its defence against cancer cells. At the same time, the yellow tuber also inhibits the growth of cancer cells and improves the effect of radiation and chemotherapy. Many cancer patients suffer from considerable discomfort in the gastrointestinal tract during chemotherapy and radiation. These complaints are also favourably influenced by turmeric - without any side effects.

From today's perspective, turmeric is not a miracle cure for cancer that can or should be used alone. However, as a complementary measure to any other cancer therapy, the yellow root tuber does an excellent job!
